Fiber reinforced thixotropic mortar for concrete repairs in 2 – 20mm thickness in one single layer. Available in white and grey color, facilitating painting in smooth concrete applications. It is used also for levelling of both horizontal and vertical stable substrates, such as concrete, plasters, cement screeds. It is also suitable for concrete levelling applications on staircases, before waterproofing or before the application of coverings such as ceramic tiles or natural stones, as well as decorative coatings such as PLANOCOLOR PREMIUM 2K, PLANOCOLOR PREMIUM SP, PLANOCOLOR VENETICO microcement coatings, “stone carpet” floors by using PLANOCOLOR PU, quartz plasters by using PLANOCOLOR AC, micro-pebble or polished terrazzo coverings by using NOVACEM CREATIVE or NOVACEM CREATIVE FLOOR hydraulic binders. It is also applied on existing paving, after priming with PLANO CONTACT FAST.
• RC 220 one component multipurpose repair mortar is suitable for:
o concrete restorations, Principle 3, Method 3.1 & 3.3 of ΕΝ 1504-9
o levelling ceilings, horizontal or /and vertical surfaces in a thickness of 2 – 20 mm in one single layer
o spot restorations up to 50 mm – filling gaps and minor defects
o repairing cracks in wall masonry
o formation of rigid joints
o substrate levelling prior to the application of PLANOCOLOR decorative coatings

• POT life: ≈ 2 hours at 20°C
• Walkability: after 3 - 4 hours
• Application temperature: from +5°C up to +35°C
Substrate preparation:
Remove deteriorated and loose concrete parts until the substrate is solid, strong and rough with a minimum tensile strength of 1,5 N/mm². Surfaces must be clean, free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, rust and other elements that might compromise adhesion. Pre-wet the substrate with water and remove before application the excess with a sponge or air. Non-absorbent surrfaces such as tiles, terrazzo floors, natural stones should be primed first with PLANO CONTACT FAST.
Preparation of the mix:
Mix the content of the 25kg paper bag containing R C220 with 4,25 -4,75 liters of clean and fresh water with electrical hand drill mixer at low speedatleast for 3 minutes, until a uniform mortar free of lumps is obtained. For small quantities mixing can be performed also by hand.
Application:
The mixture is applied by means of a flat trowel, in horizontal and vertical surfaces. The maximum application thickness is 20 mm per layer and for ceilings is 15 mm. When higher thickness is required, apply subsequent coats when the preceding layer starts to harden.
After application of RC 220 it should be left to cure in a relatively moisty environment. For smoothing surfaces prior to the application of PLANOCOLOR MICROCEMENT or PLANOCOLOR GRANULATES coatings it is recommend waiting 18 hours - 3 days depending on the application thickness. For applications of humidity stable coverings such as ceramic tiles usually 24- 48 hours is enough.
Recommendations:
• Avoid applications during direct sunlight exposure and/or strong wind and rain
• Apply only upon solid and well-prepared rough substrate
• Do not add water or additives once the mix starts to set
• Do not apply upon existing expansion or movement joints of the substrate
• Do not add cement, gypsum, lime or other materials that might affect the properties of the mortar
• Do not apply upon substrates subjected to rising humidity
• Do not exceed 20 mm in thickness per layer and 15 mm in case of applications on ceilings
• Do not apply when temperature of the substrate and environment is lower than +5°C and higher than +35°C
• Do not apply upon anhydrite-based substrates, metal surfaces or resilient substrates
• Always ensure that that humidity level is lower than what the covering requires
• Application must be done by professional applicator
Cleaning:
Tools, buckets, tiles etc. can be cleaned with fresh and clean water as long as RC 220 mix is still fresh. After hardening occurs, cleaning can take place by mechanical means.
